1. COMPANY POLICY:

We know it’s a lot to read. But it is very important information that we want to make sure every customer understands. Over the years we have run into all kinds of people who have asked us to do all kinds of things. When we are on the clock we work for you and will make every effort to do what you ask. However, please be advised that certain things you may ask for come with certain risks, and we cannot be responsible for the results of these requests… So as you read this, try to put yourself in our shoes- imagine what circumstances might have motivated us to add a particular policy. These policies are for your protection as well as ours.

1. Guidance, walk-through, and payment. The customer or his representative must be present during the move at all times. We need your guidance! It is the customer’s responsibility to do a final “walk-through” of the premises to ensure we have taken everything. Our time runs continuously until all tools and equipment are back in the truck and payment is completed. Having your cash or credit/debit card ready will save you time and money. Please note: we do not accept checks. For credit card payments, your name and the name on the credit card should match. You will be asked to sign for a credit card payment.

2. Long-distance/interstate moves. We accept cash or credit card on delivery, Please note: we do not accept checks. For credit card payments, your name and the name on the credit card should match. You will be asked to sign for a credit card payment. For all interstate moves we require a 10% deposit to secure crew and truck for your move (see our policy on deposits, section ‘strict policy’), 50% of the total after the deduction of the deposit is due at the pick-up time, and remaining 50% balance due at the delivery before unloading. 3% bank processing fee is applied for all type of card payments.

3. Parking arrangements. The customer is responsible for requesting moving permits if they may be required. We can only recommend getting permits for all moves as they guarantee to park the moving truck as close as possible to your doorway. Because you are familiar with the parking situation on your street, you must decide if you need one, or if you can manage parking on your own. In most cases, we require 35-40 feet to park the truck. Please get moving permits if you think movers may have trouble parking at your address or let us know, so we can make appropriate arrangements for you. We highly recommend getting permits in North End and Beacon Hill areas. If there is nowhere to park at the time of the mover’s arrival, the crew will start your moving clock while they will be searching for parking. Driver reserves the right to park anywhere at his discretion to better perform services, even if it is illegal and/or he has to double-park. The customer agrees to pay any parking fees or tickets assessed to the carrier for any vehicle under hire by the customer at the time of the charge.

4. Loading/Unloading. If we are only providing loading or unloading services, we are not responsible for any damages, which may occur in transporting the furniture and are released of all liability after loading the truck before unloading. We are only responsible for items in our immediate care, custody, and control.

5. Payment for a local move. For local moves, you must pay in full on the day of the job. Payment for local moves is due before the end of the job by cash or VISA/MC/DISCOVER/AMEX. 3% bank processing fee is applied for all types of card payments.

6. Damages and claims. Any damage claims must be submitted in writing to our claims department. Applicable notes about these damages must be made in writing on the bill of lading on the day of your move before movers leave your premises. Our company standards do assume a full inspection of furniture by both our movers and customers. however, the final inspection is the responsibility of the customer. All of our customers sign a bill of lading upon completion of a move. It reads “The above services were rendered and all goods delivered in good order, except as noted”. For any insurance company, this document is critical in noting charges on the same day, to ensure the damage occurred that day and that coverage could be provided. Unless payment is made in full as is due we are not required to answer or process a claim. Do not assume you may deduct the money from the final bill to compensate yourself in the event of damage. This is ILLEGAL.

7. Refrigerator move. We only move empty freezers/refrigerators. Please empty the contents for safe moving. We are happy to load these last and unload them first.

8. Aquarium move. We only move empty aquariums. (This means empty of water and also empty of all living creatures).

9. Grandfather clocks. You are responsible for removing the pendulum, chimes, and weights.

10. Waterbed. If you have a waterbed, we will be glad to move it. However, we are not waterbed technicians. We will follow your instructions, but you must make a final inspection before our crew leaves. We will not send men out for later adjustments. If you prefer to have a waterbed company move your bed, please do so.

11. Dresser Drawers, File Cabinets, Desk Drawers. Please empty all dresser drawers, file cabinets, and desk drawers. Remember that the furniture will have to be lifted and carried, so if it’s overstuffed and extra heavy it will be more difficult to handle. If the furniture will have to be navigated through challenging obstacles, like a winding staircase, it’s usually best to remove everything, even the drawers, as it may be necessary to flip the furniture on its side or upside-down to get it through.

12. A last-minute change of service. If the move requires work above and beyond the original order for services. We reserve the right to fulfill other obligations before completing additional work. For example, you have originally ordered services for two (2) rooms move only. On the day of the move, you add additional rooms to move, not mentioned at the time of the request, additional pick-ups/drop-offs, etc., which will significantly increase total move time. To make our schedule on time for the next move, we reserve the right to postpone additionally requested services till our next availability and/or after the completion of other jobs that day.

13. Flat-screen TVs. These are susceptible to damage from extreme temperatures, slight bumps, and altitude changes. The original packaging is the best. In any case, please note that in the absence of physical evidence of external damage or negligence (visible damage) we are not responsible for TVs functioning after delivery. Please note item #6 in our EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY.

14. Weather conditions. We reserve the right to reschedule the move at an agreed-upon time, without liability if there is inclement weather, including, but not limited to heavy/freezing rain, snow emergency, hurricane warning, weather travel ban, etc.

15. Crew size. We reserve the right to choose the number of movers for each job, depending on our current schedule, availability, weather conditions, etc.

16. Driver hours and regulations. We reserve the right to limit our workday to 12 hours. In certain cases, due to DOT hours of service rules for drivers, we may need to cut a job short or send a replacement driver to avoid violating those regulations.

17. Appliances. We are not responsible for damage to plumbing, electrical systems, or water damage associated with the connection or disconnection of washers and dryers.

18. Heavy and oversized items move. Our personnel will move your pianos, appliances, and items over 200 lbs. if indeed the work can be done safely. Unfortunately, damage may result in floor surfaces. If you wish to take this risk we will not be responsible. Please note item #17 in our EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY.

19. Piano move. We do not move large upright pianos up or down flights of stairs inside the house. We only move pianos from ground to ground floor. We encourage sending us pictures of the entrances at each location so that we can confirm that we can move your piano. There may be circumstances when we cannot safely move items and will need to discuss the situation with you. If the piano has lightweight legs (usually the front), we will not be responsible if they will not go back on if we take them off (sometimes the nut is loose inside the piano and will turn when you try to replace the leg). If the customer elects to leave the legs on, we will not be responsible if damage occurs to them.

20. Storage Move. We will retain exclusive access to the storage space during the duration of the property's storage. Retrieval of the property by the party entitled requires the payment of a docking fee, the cost of which is dependent upon the amount of property in storage. The docking fee begins at $99.00 however is scalable with the size of the property in storage and is contingent on the hours and workers required to remove or deliver property from storage to destination. It is incumbent on the party moving property into storage to pay for the first month of storage in full on the day of the move unless otherwise specified by the carrier. Followed by the payment of monthly storage fees calculated by the size of the property in storage. The carrier shall have the right to issue late fees as well as retain items in storage in cases of non-payment at the cost of the property owner.

21. Cancellation Policy  Our cancellation policy is as follows and is strictly adhered to as our booking calendar is crictical to our success and allows us to keep our prices as low as possible for you.  Securing a reservation with your deposit means you accept the terms and conditions of the cancellation policy that applies to your move. Depending on the type of move (local or long distance), one of these three (3) cancellation and rescheduling policies will apply: Flexible, Moderate and Strict.

Flexible

Applies to all Hourly and Local Moves
Deposit refunded with at least 48 hours notice No rescheduling Fee

Moderate

Applies to all Long Distance Moves
Deposit refunded with at least 72 hours notice
Rescheduling subject to a fee $200

Strict

Applies to all other moves
Reservations cancelled within the 48-hour window will result in the loss of the deposit
Rescheduling is subject to a fee $300

22. Moving Insurance and Valuation It is important to understand how much the movers are responsible for any loss or damage.

The valuation statement on the bill of lading governs this. The minimum coverage for moving companies in Virginia required by law is $0.60 per pound per article up to $10.000 (it’s included in the rate given) and it is called carrier liability insurance.

If an item is lost or damaged, you would receive $0.60 per pound per damaged item. For instance, if an item is damaged during the move, an item that you bought for $200.00 and weighed 100 pounds, you would only get $60.00 as compensation.

Extra coverage is optional that you can consider purchasing.

We do not sell additional coverage and we don’t recommend anyone buy additional coverage from a moving company. (The moving company is not an insurance company and cannot process insurance claims).

If you do need additional coverage we recommend purchasing additional coverage with a third-party moving insurance company.

Your homeowner's policy.
Your own insurance policy.

Here is a list of rules and regulations for valuation coverage:

Valuation does not automatically pay for any damage. It must be clearly shown that the mover was responsible.

Items in boxes not packed by the mover are not covered.

The mover is not responsible for any electronic item that does not function after the move unless there is clear evidence that the item was not handled properly during the move.

Even if you see damages to items at the time of the move, you are legally responsible to pay the full amount for the move. Then you must go through the claims process.

Moving Tips

Please empty all drawers and pack all miscellaneous items into boxes (Trash bags WILL NOT be moved in the truck unless with pillows/towels etc.)

Please know that the crew cannot be split during a move. They start together and finish together per company policy. (Example: you have a 4 – men crew, 2 men cannot go to one location, and another 2 men stay at the house. 4 men must work together until done).

Please make sure the elevator is reserved and available to you on the day of your move!
Please make sure to let us know any changes to your relocation 48-HOURS prior to the move to avoid cancellation and date-change charges.

Please review Q&A and  Company Policy or any questions that you may have.

Cancellation / Rescheduling Fee: We wish we didn’t have to, but when clients cancel on short notice it can be difficult to find a replacement move for our crews. If the client cancels or reschedules INSIDE of 48 hours is a 2-hour minimum fee (2 hours of labor + service fee). Therefore, please try to do make a reservation when you are certain of the moving situation, check if your buildings allow moving at the reserved time slot with us and the elevator is available + RESERVED for you (if applicable). Fees do not apply if the rescheduling is due emergency/national security, God’s act events.

Please familiarize yourself with the insurance option that is provided by BMFC.

Apply for moving permits, if you think there will be lack of parking next to your apartment.

Parking as close as possible to your home entrance makes moves more efficient and protects you from paying any associated parking tickets.

Please let us know if there are any objects that are heavier than 200 lbs., are of high value, fragile or require extreme care.

All the boxes with dishes and/or fragile items must be labeled “fragile”.

Important information before and after the move:

PLEASE HAVE ALL THE ELECTRONIC DEVICES TURNED ON when the crew arrives, this is our policy to check the working condition before and after the move.

All small and fragile electronic pieces will NOT be moved in the truck (laptops, screens, etc.). We are happy to help you load them into a car.

Please empty all drawers of all furniture and pack all miscellaneous items into boxes (Trash bags are not recommended to be moved in the truck). ***FOR SELF-PACKING CUSTOMERS ONLY.

PLEASE inspect ALL your goods and premises, including but not limited to elevators, floors, and stairwells. Make sure there are no damages found. Check that the cab and the back of the truck are empty, and the job is complete BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT.

Please note, we do not transport live plants in the trucks due to their fragile nature. We are happy to help you load them into your vehicle. If you have large pots, please take the dirt out, they must be transported empty.
